Job Title:

Network Administrator

 

Job Description:

PolarData requires a knowledgeable Network Administrator to troubleshoot technical problems, provide technical advice, product upgrade and installation support. The technology we encounter and solutions we provide presents unique challenges for even the most skilled technician | administrator.

The primary role of the IT technical support | administrator position is to ensure that our clients infrastructure runs properly and is maintained. The candidate would assist with hardware, operating systems, provisioning, scalability/performance, network integration issues and incident analysis. Our client’s technology can range from legacy to cutting edge and you would be part of a team responsible for continuous Managed IT services as well ongoing upgrades and projects.

 

Responsibilities:

The Network Administrator is responsible for office infrastructure, facilities administration and security, systems operation and maintenance, related IT projects deployment and support to meet leading industry’s standards and best practices.

Provide technical support and administration both remotely and on site for our customers; determine the nature and potential causes of the problem.  Recommend and implement corrective action for resolution of issues.

 

Requirements:

•Must understand when to escalate urgent issues to the team.
•Provide Managed IT Services and interface between product vendors and customers.
•Interact with the Sales team to discuss client accounts and ongoing requirements.
•Require a solid understanding of networking and troubleshooting.
•Must be able to travel to different client locations.
•Must be able to work occasionally after-hours as required.
•Work as part of a team as well as independently.
•Available to be on-call for support.
•Ability to work in a high pressure environment.
•Strong communication skills

 


Qualifications:

•Proven ability to perform responsibilities in English.
•Minimum 4 years Network Support | Administration
•Strong communication skills.
•Ability to resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
•Strong experience in performing a variety of activities related to the analysis, installation, and troubleshooting of networking and applications.
•Identify alternative business solutions.

 


Prior experience in administering, evaluating and modifying network systems to assure proper security, operation and optimization is a benefit.

 

Strong background in deploying and maintaining enterprise IT platform and application, principles, practices and methods of WAN/LAN networking including fiber-optic and copper cable systems, data circuits, routers, switches, hubs, network operating systems, network appliances, firewalls and security.

 

Education:

College or University in the related field
Certifications are an asset
